Event Details:
This trip out we will be driving at normal speeds, through the beautiful KY back roads over to Dale Hollow Lake to tour the Trooper Island Camp, enjoy a lunch and learn more about the camp's mission and those they serve. The drive will leave from NCM around 8 a.m. and take approx. 2 hours. You can expect to be on the Island another 2-3 hours so please plan to spend most of the day together. This event is limited to 40 people so please sign up soon if you want to participate.
Cost / Donate:
There is no cost to participate in this event. However, these drives are fundraisers for the camp, so tax-deductible donations are encouraged. Trooper Island is a non-profit charitable corporation. All construction and camping expenses are paid from tax-deductible contributions. No money is spent on administrative cost and No tax dollars are used; it is supported entirely by donations. Scott is inviting us as his guests. If you wish, you can use this donation as a tax-deductible donation by making out a check to Trooper Island.
About Trooper Island:
It is a free summer camp for underprivileged boys and girls, age 10-12, operated by the Kentucky State Police on Dale Hollow Lake in Clinton County. Each year the camp hosts approximately seven hundred children from all counties of Kentucky. Campers spend one week at the camp learning about citizenship, leadership, and personal hygiene. The children receive comprehensive oral health screenings in conjunction with oral hygiene education. They are provided healthy food, fresh air, recreation, guidance, and structured, esteem-building activities designed to build good citizenship and positive relationships with law enforcement officers.
