About Pine Knob
Pine Knob is where my (Chris Smith) stepfather Honus Shain was born and raised. He built the Pine Knob Outdoor Theater in 1986. Converted his home place into a 50’s dinner. My mother Debby joined him in 1999 and they continued to feed and entertain people until the Covid pandemic. Fans of the American Pickers may remember seeing him and Pine Knob on an episode in 2014. The pickers bought 2 1957 fords that day.
What to do
There are beautiful walking trails, one about 2 hours with caves, an overlook of the lake, and lots of stories lead by Honus, a shorter trail lead by Debby to a two-tiered cave with a few less stories. Check out some 56 and 57 Fords and Mercury’s. Walk around the theater grounds, hang out at the 1930’s general store and have a cold drink from the coke machine on the porch (only takes quarters).
Food
We will have a spring picnic there with catered BBQ, beans, and slaw. Tea, soda, and water will be provided. The cost will be $10.00 per person.
